Forensic Mystery

Something has gone missing from a science lab! What happened is a mystery… but CAGIS is on the case! In this session, we will learn real forensic science techniques, discover the ins and outs of fingerprint analysis, and put our skills to the test to solve this scientific mystery.

Time

Ages 7-11: 8 am PT • 9 am MT • 10 am CT • 11 am ET • 12 pm AT
Ages 11-16: 10 am PT • 11 am MT • 12 pm CT • 1 pm ET • 2 pm AT


Materials and Preparation

You will need the following materials for this activity: 

  • An ink pad (can be purchased from the Dollar Store) or a dark-coloured washable marker
  • A light-coloured balloon
  • A few sheets of paper towel (we will need to wet one of them)
  • Clear Scotch tape (must be clear)
  • A sheet of white or light-coloured paper
  • A pencil (must be a pencil – a pen or marker will not work)
