Tensegrity: Let’s Defy Gravity!

Do you know what a tensegrity (tension + integrity) structure is?

These structures may look like they defy gravity but they are actually works of physics, not magic! Join us as we build our own tensegrity structures and dive into forces and centres of gravity in this fantastic physics session! 

Time

Ages 7-12: 8 am PT • 9 am MT • 10 am CT • 11 am ET • 12 pm AT
Ages 13-17: 10 am PT • 11 am MT • 12 pm CT • 1 pm ET • 2 pm AT

 
Materials and Preparation

Preparation before the session:

  • Cut out two identical squares of cardboard: 15 cm x 15 cm

 

Materials for the session:

  • Duct tape
  • At least six standard size popsicle sticks (1 cm x 11.5 cm)
  • ~ 150 cm string
  • Glue gun and glue gun sticks
  • Marker or pen
  • Scissors
