Catch a Wave!

Saturday, November 15, 2025

Surfers catch big waves, but we are diving into the universe’s tiniest waves in this physics-tastic session! Build and experiment with your own functional (and sweet) wave, then explore wave properties like amplitude and frequency with Dr. Nirosha Murugan, Canada Research Chair in Tissue Biophysics. She will break down the physics behind waves and share how she uses biology and physics to solve big problems!

Dr. Nirosha Murugan

Dr. Nirosha J. Murugan is a scientist who studies the secret “languages” of life—like light, electricity, and magnetism—and how they help our bodies heal and stay healthy. She has built new tools to find cancer, worked on regrowing lost body parts in animals, and now leads a lab in Canada that brings physics and biology together. As Canada Research Chair in Tissue Biophysics, she is passionate about showing young people that science is full of discovery, creativity, and possibility.
