Code Your Own Online Game

What are your favourite phone games to play?  Have you ever come up with a new idea of your own?

Join us to make YOUR OWN game that can be played on a phone or computer! Younger participants will be making an animal game with bunnies, carrots to capture, and foxes to escape! Older participants will be making BuzzFeed style quiz games to test friends and family! Coding will be in a JavaScript drag-and-drop platform. All coding levels welcome; no previous coding experience required.

 

Time

Ages 7-12: 8 am PT • 9 am MT • 10 am CT • 11 am ET • 12 pm AT
Ages 13-17: 10 am PT • 11 am MT • 12 pm CT • 1 pm ET • 2 pm AT

 
Materials and Preparation

The coding can be done in a web browser. To participate, you will need a computer with an internet connection. Prior to the session, please make a Student Account at Code.org.

Meet the Expert

Dr. Ana de Oliveira Rodrigues

Dr. Ana de Oliveira Rodrigues is a Professor at FAST (Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology) at Humber College, bringing over 20 years of experience in STEM education. 

Her expertise spans robotics, electronics, coding, and active learning to mentor the next generation of innovators. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and has led teams in the edtech space and developed impactful apps. You will find her building LEGO masterpieces with her two daughters when she’s not teaching or programming.
