Materials and Preparation
Preparation required before the session:
You will either need red cabbage juice OR butterfly pea powder (can be purchased on Amazon).
If you are using red cabbage juice, please prepare it before the session using one of these two methods:
- Chop up some red cabbage, cover with water, and let boil until the liquid becomes a deep purple colour (the darker the better). Remove the cabbage and keep the liquid. OR
- Add 1/8th wedge of red cabbage and 1 cup of water to a food processor and blend. Pour blended contents through a sieve to remove any chunky pieces. Keep the liquid.
Materials needed for the session:
In addition to your red cabbage juice or butterfly pea powder, you will also need:
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- 2 regular spoons (to stir with) + 1 additional spoon or fork
- 3 drinking glasses
- A mug
- A microwave
- Lemon juice (1 tbsp)
- Sugar (3 tbsp)
- Baking soda (1 tsp)
- Flour (3 tbsp)
- Cocoa powder (2 tbsp)
- Baking powder (1/4 tsp)
- Vegetable oil (2 tbsp)
- Milk (3 tbsp, can be any kind of milk)
- Water (3 cups)
- Optional:
- Vanilla extract or flavouring (1/4 tsp)
- Chocolate chips (1 tsp)
- A pinch of salt
