The Science of Reinforced Concrete

Come learn about the importance of reinforced concrete for building integrity for trades workers, construction workers, civil engineers, artists, and more. Participants will learn about reinforcing concrete and be tasked with designing their own reinforced concrete pot that they get to take home with them and use as a trinket box, flower pot, pencil holder, and much more. Participants will also be able to get creative by playing with colours and different add-ins.   

Check-in: Check-in opens at 5:15 pm. Please arrive early to ensure the event starts on time.

Location: Calgary, AB (Register to receive exact location details)

Ages: This event is for girls and gender-diverse youth ages 7 to 16. This event will be divided into two groups (7-11 year olds and 12-16 year olds). The activity will be slightly modified for each group with the older age group experimenting with more complex reinforcement techniques. You may choose to register siblings in the same group, even if they fall into different age categories.

Registration Information: All youth attending must register using the link below. For non-CAGIS members, a guardian is required to stay for the event and must also register below. Participants who are CAGIS members are not required to have a parent/guardian stay for the event.
