Did you know that there are ~350 joints in your body? Step into the shoes of an occupational and physical therapy assistant as we explore the human body in this bone-tastic session! Build working models of ball joints, hinge joints, and more!
Time
Ages 7-12: 8 am PT • 9 am MT • 10 am CT • 11 am ET • 12 pm AT
Ages 13-17: 10 am PT • 11 am MT • 12 pm CT • 1 pm ET • 2 pm AT
Materials and Preparation
- One small to medium-sized, smooth ball. Pickleball, ping pong ball, or wiffle ball (7-10 cm diameter) will work best, but can use a tennis ball or bouncy ball.
- Duct tape, packing tape, or electrical tape
- Scissors
- Aluminum foil
- One pencil
- A pair of chopsticks (can also use two wooden kabob skewers or two pencils)
- One small rubber band
- Two empty toilet paper tubes
- One piece of cardboard larger than your hand
- Non-permanent marker or sharpened pencil to draw with
Meet the Expert

Gillian Ivey
Gillian is studying to become an Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) at Humber Polytechnic. She concurrently works as an OTA to help her patients work toward independence in activities of their daily lives and meet their rehabilitative goals. Gillian also holds a master’s degree in geology and teaches yoga and plays pickleball in her spare time. She is passionate about using a holistic approach to rehabilitating and healing our body-mind.
