CAGIS Receives NSERC PromoScience Grant
The Canadian Association for Girls in Science (CAGIS) is thrilled to accept a PromoScience grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). CAGIS will receive $150,000 per year for 3 years totalling $450,000, to support the ongoing success of the new CAGIS Virtual program.
CAGIS Virtual brings fun hands-on activities into the homes of girls and gender nonconforming youth aged 7 to 16, across Canada. Each week, members learn and explore with experiments and activities led by experts in science, technology, trades, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
“We are grateful to NSERC for their commitment to offering accessible options to enhance STEM learning for girls and gender nonconforming youth. With this grant, we will continue to offer high quality programming that inspires youth to open their homes and minds to exploration and discovery,” says Dr. Larissa Vingilis-Jaremko, CAGIS founder and president.
In addition to CAGIS Virtual, CAGIS continues to offer its signature Chapter membership program. CAGIS Chapter members meet monthly and explore STEM activities within their local communities, online and in person when it’s safe to do so. For a limited time, new members to CAGIS Virtual will receive a free Chapter membership, giving participants an opportunity to cultivate relationships with like minded individuals both across Canada and in their own backyards.
